Kroppen Round
While I was designing Kaleko Round, I started thinking about a font that was borne of the Kaleko K, where the angled strokes are separated from the vertical stroke.
Talbot Type Kroppen is not strictly a stencil font given that several characters, notably the O, are not stencilled. The effect I was after, was more to do with achieving each character from a single stroke, or series of single strokes. The premise is that wherever there is a junction other than a regular corner, then the strokes are terminated short of the junction in the style of a stencil font.
There is less demand for genuine stencil fonts since we’ve all gone digital, but we still like the look they can offer.
In this case, the technique of paring down the forms to single strokes, seems to further emphasise the geometry of the characters – I hope it will prove popular with graphic designers.
Kroppen Round features an extended character set to include accented characters for Central European languages.
