About the font Keymer Thug paths

Keymer Radius and Keymer Thug round out the Keymer family. Having designed Keymer, a utilitarian, humanist sans serif and the style of font that a designer might hopefully come to consider as a friend for life, I was pleased with the way it blends functionality and good looks. So using the same chassis, I’ve added two further variations.

This is Keymer Thug, a timeworn version of Keymer Radius. I promised myself I wouldn’t succumb to designing a distressed looking font but I’ve caved in. As a designer, if I desire a stressed or textured look, I always feel that it has to be achieved by putting a regular font through a process that’s informed by the central concept or idea, so a weather beaten look has to be weather beaten, so no two lower case a’s will be the same. However, I’ve always liked Berthold Block with its rough edges, so I thought why not.
